orbit
中世後期の英語（orbitとして）で、フランス語を経てラテン語のorbita（『軌道、道筋』、中世ラテン語では『眼窩』）から来ています。女性形のorbitusは『円形の』を意味し、orbisは『円、球』を意味します。
